In Kyoto’s Gion district, The Shinmonzen is a discreet nine-suite hotel designed by Tadao Ando. Set along the Shirakawa River, it blends elements of a traditional machiya townhouse with Ando’s signature restraint. Natural wood, hinoki baths and curated artworks come together to create a serene and finely detailed setting.
